Stay in farmhouse-style accommodation at Kanambo’s guest rooms

If you would like to stay in true Namibian farmhouse style, make sure all or part of your stay at Kanambo is in our guest rooms. Created from the conversion of the farm’s old stables, they offer comfortable accommodation to our guests, including being personally catered to by the farm’s owners, Peter and Doris Beckers, and of course delicious farm-grown, home-cooked Namibian cuisine. Rustic and rural, our guest rooms offer simple comforts, the most important of which are breathtaking sunsets and sunrises, and the vast, open expanse surrounding you.

Guest Room Accommodation

Kanambo offers 4 rooms, including 3 double rooms in the former stables and 1 family cottage. Each of the double rooms sleeps 2 people (some in queen beds), with an en suite bathroom. In addition to a room with a queen bed, the family cottage has an extra room with a single bed (an additional single bed available upon request). Due to water scarcity, only the family cottage has both a bath and shower, while the other rooms are equipped only with showers. As the guest house has grown over time, each room has been individually decorated to reflect the simplicity of the farm and its hunting heritage. Meals are taken outside on the porch or in the trophy room in the farmhouse itself, which, in addition to a comfortable lounge area, is available for guests to relax in as a communal area.

Your hosts, Peter and Doris Beckers

When you stay at the farmhouse, you’ll be hosted by the farm’s owners, Peter and Doris Beckers. Born in Otjiwarongo in 1948, Peter grew up on the farm and, besides a brief stint studying cattle breeding in South Africa, has lived there most of his life. An avid hunter himself, Peter has an unparalleled knowledge of the local fauna and flora and knows the farm like the back of his hand. He also has a wealth of hunting stories that he loves to share with guests.

Doris Beckers, a native of the nearby town of Kalkfeld, is a trained nurse and has lived on the farm since her marriage to Peter in 1979. While Peter does most of the talking, she takes care of everything else – from preparing delicious local food for our guests, to caring for the farm’s garden. Her skill at cooking is only matched by her passion for it, with one of her most famous dishes being rollbraten, or ‘rolled roast’, which consists of a silverside cut of Oryx rolled around cheese, onion and bacon, lightly seared, then cooked in the over. A firm favourite among Doris’ sons Heiko and Peter Clifford, it has become justifiably famous among our guests. With Peter and Doris you can expect friendly, hands-on hosts who love to talk, make mouth-watering food, and learn about their guests. Contact us here to begin arranging your trip to Kanambo today.
