When we started Kanambo Hunting we wanted to create a business that would thrive in harmony with this unique environment and its wild animals. Going off the grid to spare our wilderness’s precious resources was only part of the story. We felt a responsibility to keep the natural ecosystems of our area in balance through conservation efforts like ethical hunting – something that we could only do with the help of you,...
The types of hunting experiences at Kanambo Hunting
At Kanambo Hunting, we offer tailored experiences for our hunters. We work out a suggestion based on the size of your group, your skill level, the type (or types) of hunting that you want to do, and anything else that you need to have a successful hunting season. We offer 1-on-1 hunts (just Dolf – our professional hunting guide – and you), 1-on-2 hunts, as well as a buddy hunt format of 2-on-4 (2 guides and 4 guests). Here are the different hunting options that we offer.
Stalking by foot
If you’re a traditionalist hunter, you probably enjoy the thrill of stalking your hunt by foot. This is one of the oldest and most demanding forms of hunting. At Kanambo, you can decide how challenging you want to make your stalking experience. You can set out from the homestead itself, or you can drive into the wilderness and start your hunt from there. Either way, you’ll be in the hands of Dolf, your professional hunting guide, who knows the animals and their behaviour very well, so you’ll be off to a good start.
Spot and stalk
Some hunters prefer a different start to their stalking experience: the spot and stalk. This form of hunting is for anyone who wants to spot their hunt first before setting out on foot. At Kanambo, there are many different ways to do a spot and stalk. Get comfortable in one of our hides or elevated platforms, to spot the animals from a distance, work out your approach, and get on their tracks at just the right time.
Hunting from a hide
For certain types of game, you’re going to have to exercise your patience and wait for your target to come to you. The best way to do this is to settle in at one of our hides and start surveying the horizon. The good news is that at Kanambo, we give you an added advantage: mobile hides. With mobile hides, you have the ability to move around unnoticed, sneak up on your target and get the right angle for the perfect shot. Kanambo offers both permanent and mobile hides from which to spot game.
Camera hunt / Photo safari
If you enjoy the thrill of spotting and stalking game, but you’d rather shoot them with a camera than a rifle, this experience is for you. Dolf is very happy to guide wildlife photographers and enthusiasts on camera hunts or photo safaris. You will have the full hunting experience but with great photography as your trophy.
